I submitted an entry to the Red Ants Pants Poster contest in 2019. Coming up with an idea for this poster was a struggle for me at first. However, after some time of thinking, I came up with a trio of musicians, playing some music in a common sunset found in the northern states of America. It was fun to make and I was glad to just be able to submit my work!
“The Red Ants Pants Music Festival was founded in 2011. It is designed to bring people together and is a program of the 501(c)(3) Red Ants Pants Foundation. Our non-profit is dedicated to women’s leadership, working family farms and ranches, and rural communities. We use proceeds from the festival to fund our community grants and run our timber skills work shops and Girl’s Leadership Program.”
How I did it:
I created this entire design in Illustrator. I first created the musicians with the pen tool. It took a long process but I eventually had them all done and moved on to the instruments. After those were made, I made the background. The background was all done with the pen tool as well. I used the shape tool for the sun. To create the grass I actually made my own line. I customized a line and saved it so that I could use it over and over. The very last things I did was create the border, laid out the text, and choose a font. I added the Festival Banner/Logo and then it was done!
