The first thing I wanted to do with this piece was to show the “cold breath” during the winter. I was looking through some inspiration and decided on having a girl in a food to add a “mysterious” like feel to the piece. Living in North Dakota, we tend to understand how cold it is when you can see your breath. I then needed a background to which I decided on bricks. I had some challenges when creating this piece. One was the creases of her hood and another was her facial structure. I really enjoy challenges so I worked time and again to make the creases as correct as I could and to make her facial structure as accurate as well. Her hair is white because I wanted to emphasize the “cold” feel of the piece that I was trying to portray. It almost looks like icicles. Overall like any other charcoal piece, I really enjoyed creating this as well.
