My favorite animal is a wolf so when I was taught wood burning, I really wanted to do an animal and what better than a wolf. I was given a block of wood and some wood burning tips as well as the burner itself. I practiced the tips on spare piece of food and figured out which tip I would use when. Originally I didn’t have a background and was worried about ruining the piece, however, someone suggested to me that I should try adding one. So, I found a non-textured tip and lightly burned around the wolf. I ended up loving it and was glad I added it. I added a couple feathers for extra detail. Carving into would was a little difficult as times because the tip didn’t move smoothly sometimes or if you didn’t have a good enough grasp, it would move it the opposite way you wanted. However, it was my first time with wood burning and enjoyed learning and experiencing something different.
