Painting is another passion of mine. I really enjoy mixing colors to see what kind of colors you can make. However, I really enjoy black and white pieces too. There is a hidden beauty to me when I look at black and white pieces. I took an original photo of this art piece and turned into black and white to paint. The photo was the view of the porch at the house my aunt was currently living somewhere between Minnesota and Wisconsin. I choose that photo because I really liked the view and wanted to showcase the trees and the pond as well as the shadow that came from the trees and the porch. Like all pieces, there were challenges. One challenge was the angle of the shadow coming from the railing. Another challenge was the getting the texture of the porch and grass. After hours of frustration I finally had a breakthrough with the texture and angles and was very pleased with the outcome. The sky I would say is my least favorite part about the piece. However, I painted it as I saw it and sometimes that just is how it is.
